Final Paragraph: Better conditions in prisons?

Therefore, for developed and integrated societies to exist, prisons must have decent conditions so that torture, ill-treatment, abuse and miserable conditions do not exist. Although criminals are problematic and deserve punishment according to their crime, prisons must provide tools so that future prisoners can reintegrate into society, with the aim of being better citizens and not committing crimes again. In this way, there would be low crime rates, as evidenced by empirical evidence from other countries, and on the other hand, there should be legislation that promotes decent prison conditions. Finally, it is essential for the success of this, the existence of a solid justice system whose main objective is to grant justice to those affected by crimes and that the prisoners serve their sentences in decent conditions.

Obesity: Public or personal health problem?

For many doctors and scientists, obesity is a very dangerous state for people because it causes chronic and degenerative diseases. That is why governments, through the Ministry of Health, must address this problem. In this sense, they must implement public policies that, first of all, sensitize the population to the health risks of obesity and overweight. Second, establish a new culture of healthy eating and physical exercise. And finally, that all people can have access to these measures to impact the community as a whole. This is very important, since clinical studies affirm that 46% of world mortality is due to problems derived from obesity. On the other hand, there are people who argue that obesity is due to individual responsibility. In other words, the problem must be solved by people and not by governments. The reason is that everyone is responsible for their body and that they choose how they eat. As in physical exercise. Therefore, it is believed that people are obese by a p...

Education and immigration in Chile

Education in Chile is highly unequal . It is quite worrying because for a more equitable society and with better people, comprehensive education is needed for everyone. Comprehensive education must provide all students with the basic knowledge and skills necessary to function in life. It includes both educational and training aspects. Intellectual, physical, artistic, social or emotional, among other dimensions, are in charge of encompassing comprehensive education. The question is: Comprehensive education will be enough to break the inequality that currently exists in the educational system in Chile. Migration is a positive phenomenon for societies because it generates multiculturalism and interculturality. In the last decade, immigration in Chile has reached very high levels compared to other countries in Latin America. This is explained because the country has been economically successful, as evidenced by having the highest per capita income in Latin America and also by the de...

English Language Challenges

Image
Hello everyone. I hope you all are okay. It makes me very sad that this is the last blog of the semester. I must confess that I have enjoyed writing and speaking in English in this course. Thank each partner for helping me improve my English. My experience writing every week has been fabulous. I feel that every week I learn more about writing in English.  Although it is difficult for me, since I do not have a wide vocabulary and it costs me the connection between some words. I think that in order to improve this activity it is necessary to talk about what one wrote with classmates, since that is how you work in English and also write. My experience with English before entering university was positive. My school was bilingual although I did not speak any English and I really learned very little. I did well in the tests but it was hard for me to understand English and also to speak it. After leaving school, I had a trip for taekwondo in the United States, where I spent about fo...

Changes to my study program

Image
Hello everyone!!! Today I will talk about the changes that I would like in the curriculum of the sociology career. In the first place, the current curricular mesh was modified two years ago. I really like it but I think it should have changes. I wish were more English courses. In my opinion, the current courses are not enough to have a good knowledge of the language. Nowadays it is very important to have a great knowledge and handling of English, for our work and more importantly to relate to our life, our environment. In addition to having more English course, I would like there to be another compulsory language course, it could be French or German.  In relation to the subjects of the career of sociology, I would like the first year to teach us statistics or something related to mathematics. So that in the second year it is not so difficult to learn. Personally, I have been very difficult statistics.  In the field of scholarships, I would like there to be food grants ...

A Subject you have enjoyed a lot this semester!

Image
Hello everyone. Today I will talk about the subject that I like the most. Throughout the race I have had many subjects and I have all liked them. However, this semester has been very novel in its asignturas, mixing the theoretical and the mathematical. The most difficult thing for me has been the subject of statistics, I did very badly in the first test and I felt very frustrated although I feel that I have learned many things, such as uttering the Rstudio and Excel program . I hope to pass that subject. I trust myself. The subject of Frances is my favorite, since I was a child I had the dream of learning a language other than English.  I have learned basic things, such as saying hello and goodbye, months of the year, places in the city, activities we do during the holidays and talking about what we like. I hope to continue progressing in time and be able to speak French in a good way. I have also met many people.  The other subject that I like is Modern Sociologic...
